If you are not promoting  specific product or service but just want to make money from your writing, then make sure your choose an interesting or helpful topic. There are several ways to find out what people are currently searching for on the internet or what is Hot.

Try looking over Google Trends, Digg, Twitter trending topics, or the trending topics of the Yahoo homepage in the top right corner. All of these sources can give you a good idea of what is hot and what people are currently searching for. Why is this important? Would you rather write about something that a billion people are searching for of just a handful of people?

Once you have chosen your topic and written your article, a little self promotion doesn’t hurt. Sure you will gain some readers that frequent Americas News Now, but it doesn’t hurt to refer you friends, especially if they can help your article or story become viral.

Start by sharing with all your friends on Myspace, Facebook, Twitter or whatever social network you are on, that your article has been posted on Americas News Now by giving them a link to click on in your status updates. This method is so powerful that we probably shouldn’t share it…but if you aren’t successful, we won’t be successful. You might only want to share this method with your closest friends. Figure out what websites already attract large audiences interested in your topic. For the Lebron James example, ESPN might be an obvious choice. Search the website for the most recent article on your subject. In this case, let’s say ESPN just did a big news story on why Dwayne Wade is overpaid. Notice we said Dwayne Wade, not Lebron James. An article on Lebron James might work just as well, but read on..

This is basically called spin-selling. If ESPN did their job, most readers would not be interested in another article with the same Lebron James story line. At the end of the article, there is usually a place for comments. Again, be sure to check each website’s TOS, but many allow you to place links in your comments. Just give your thoughts on the article in your comment, and you might mention, oh by the way, here’s an interesting article on why Lebron James is WAY underpaid–then post your link to your article. Just be sure you aren’t violating any TOS and that your article is relevant and provides some sort of extra value to the readers. if you follow these guidelines, your readers will thank you.
